CANOPUS LAKE, CARMEL, NEW YORK

Canopus Lake is a sandy beach in the Putnam County section of New York State. This lakefront beach host hiking trails, rowboat and kayak rentals. This is a great beach for fishing. There is a lifeguard on site during operating hours. There are BBQ pits and picnic benches a very short distance from the water. It’s a small beach. There were lots of children. I am not a huge fan of the lake’s water. I had no desire to swim in it, but the overall ambiance of Canopus Lake is beautiful.

I brought my beach chair and just sat in the sun and took in the sounds. While I wouldn’t swim at this beach, I would absolutely BBQ and just absorb the beauty of the entire atmosphere. I feel so alive when I’m in the sun, near the water. It awakens me. It cleanses me. I feel my cup running over with serenity and pure bliss. I’m at peace. I feel healed.
