PONCE RESTAURANT, ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY

Escape fine dining under bright casino lights and the buzzing boardwalk for a small restaurant that offers up big flavor.

Delicious Puerto Rican food in the heart of Atlantic City, New Jersey. Dare to leave the resorts and explore this vibrant City. Escape fine dining under bright casino lights and the buzzing boardwalk for a small restaurant that offers up big flavors.

The outside décor of the restaurant is what grabbed my attention as we were headed for a late lunch at Kelsey’s and Kim’s. From my understanding, Ponce had a plain white façade until the owner decided to bring the outside of the restaurant to life with the colors of the Puerto Rican flag. Updating the outside of the restaurant was a great move on the owner’s part. I visit Atlantic City often and this was my very first time noticing Ponce.

As far as the food goes, I enjoyed my pernil with rice and beans. Omar enjoyed his BBQ chicken with rice and beans. We had beef pastelillos with our meal and I apologize, but they weren’t good. I didn’t like my patty AT ALL!!!

Funny story: I told the owner of Ponce about Omar and me driving from Atlantic City to Philadelphia for Puerto Rican food from Porky’s Point Restaurant. We had yellow rice and beans with pernil and 2 beef pastilellos. The food was horrible. I was so disappointed. I did not like Porky’s Point’s food AT ALL. I was praising the owner of Ponce, basically explaining to him our experience with Porky’s. Unbeknownst to me, the owner of Ponce is related to the owner of Porky’s Point Restaurant. I felt a little embarrassed, but I was being honest. It is what it is.

Ponce opens early for breakfast. They sell American style breakfast like bacon, eggs, and cheese or you can get a hamburger. I went for the Puerto Rican food and it missed just one mark with the pastelillos. While the food was good at Ponce, there weren’t many dinner options. Overall, the food and service was good enough for us.

The restaurant is a little hood with some sketchy looking activity possibly taking place, but what do you expect from the side streets of Atlantic City? I’m from the Bronx, New York. Sketchiness is a regular thing where I’m from. I still recommend you try this place out for yourself. Happy Eating xoxo
