We celebrated my mom’s birthday at Resorts World Casino in Queens, New York. After losing her money on the 25 cents slot machine, we took my mom for dinner at a restaurant and lounge in the Bronx that specializes in Jamaican cuisine. Mingles Martini Bar & Lounge hosts live music on Saturdays. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is amazing. Listen to classic and current reggae music sang by the restaurant’s house band as your senses drift you away to a cute lounge in Negril without ever leaving the Bronx!
My mom was genuinely surprised when they said her name “Jackie” on the mic. They brought out a slice of red velvet cake with a sparkling candle. She had no clue they would do all of this for her. My fun, loving, outgoing mom was surprisingly quiet when they brought out the cake. The unexpected presentation of love and celebration from complete strangers had her speechless. Editing the video I noticed that she said she was nervous which is so unlike my fearless Jackie.
I love my mom so much, she is the hardest working woman I know. Making her smile touches my heart in ways words can’t express.
