We passed this restaurant several times during our stay in Bermuda. Seeing the large crowd it drew each day, we decided to give it a try. We exited the ferry in Hamilton after visiting the Dockyard. We crossed the street and made our way over to Bermuda Bistro at the Beach. Don’t let the name fool you, Bermuda Bistro at the Beach is not a beachfront restaurant. It is near a waterfront, but views of the water are obstructed.
We sat on the open-air patio and did some people watching while waiting for our drinks. I decided on a Rum Swizzle which is one of the Island’s signature cocktails (I’ve included the Rum Swizzle recipe from the Gosling Rum website below). Once my drink arrived, we ordered our food. I chose the Curry Shrimp with Basmati Rice and a Crispy Puppodum. Rain had the Penne and Chicken in Alfredo Sauce with Garlic Bread.
My shrimp was cooked in a mild, sweet Indian curry. The flavors of India were well represented in the dish. I never heard of or had Puppodum before. It was nice to try something new. It reminded me of unsalted Munchos Potato Crisps. I really enjoyed the crunchiness of the Puppodum.
Rain let me taste her Penne and Chicken in Alfredo Sauce. I loved the creaminess of the Alfredo Sauce. It wasn’t too heavy and greasy like a lot of Alfredo Sauces I’ve tasted in the past. Rain’s pasta was cooked semi-aldente. The roasted chicken blended nicely with the pasta creating a taste of Lazio, Italy right in Bermuda.
I was pleasantly surprised with how good the food is at Bermuda Bistro at the Beach. I entered the restaurant with no expectations and walked out of the restaurant feeling highly satisfied. This was one of the livelier restaurants I found in Hamilton. If you visit Bermuda, I suggest you check it out!
