There are many reasons why people travel solo. Whatever the reason, solo travel can be a great experience. My last solo trip was to the island of Antigua at 37. It was a completely different experience from my first solo trip to the Bahamas at 22 years old.
Hostelworld.com created a list of 20 Tips for Solo Travelers. One of my favorite tips on this list is to go on organized tours. Unlike my trip to the Bahamas where I went off the beaten path alone and hitchhiked late at night, I did a lot of group activities hosted by the resort I was staying at while on the island of Antigua. You hear stories about solo travelers who mysteriously vanish or are found brutally murdered while abroad, but don’t let that deter you from going on your solo journey. Another tip suggests to trust your instinct and be aware of your surroundings. Be cautious and make sound decisions. You will be just fine.
