Bungalow Restaurant and Hookah Lounge is a restaurant near Tropicana Resort on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive. The food is ok. We ordered bacon cheeseburgers and buffalo wings. Two dishes that should be impossible to get wrong. But years as a food critic, I can attest that restaurants get the most basic dishes wrong all the time.
Bungalow’s style is reminiscent of a beachfront restaurant in Miami. Bungalow is lined with white furnishings and sexy young ladies waiting at the entrance to greet you. The restaurant was quiet when we visited. I was distracted at times by the college frat like atmosphere at the restaurant directly adjacent to Bungalow. As we sat quietly eating our meal, a group of young people in their mid to late 20’s were intoxicated while playing a game of bean bag toss. They were really noisy, but having a wonderful time. It didn’t bother me in any way, but I could see some who are easily annoyed becoming irritated by the confusion at the opposing restaurant.

With regards to our food, the burger tasted flame broiled. It had a grilled taste, but more like a grilled with lighter fluid taste. The burger was a burger. It wasn’t the best burger I ever had and it surely wasn’t the worst. It was something to eat on a beautiful, sunny day on the boardwalk. You can’t go wrong with a tall glass of coke on the rocks. The drink was so refreshing and probably the best thing I had at the restaurant.
The buffalo wings were ok. Our trip to two iconic buffalo wing restaurants in Buffalo, New York, totally raised our buffalo wing standards. The wings at Bungalow just weren’t hitting the way you would hope wings would hit. Nevertheless, the food was filling. A lunch date on a beautiful day with the love of my life makes up for any feelings of dissatisfaction.
