Brandi Hodges was an experienced traveler who suddenly died after a 13-hour flight to Dubai. Brandi was aboard an Emirates flight from New York to Dubai. After her flight safely landed in Dubai, Brandi fell ill. She sat down and fainted. A flight attendant was called to assist. Brandi woke up and was given oxygen and ice and she fainted again shortly after.
Paramedics arrived on the scene and Hodges was taken in an ambulance , but the ambulance never left the airport. According to reports, Hodges was taken to a medical room inside the airport where an automated external defibrillator was used by paramedics in an attempt to revive her. Paramedics were unsuccessful.
The cost to return Hodge’s body back to the United States is estimated at $6,000. The process is being delayed because of the Islamic Holiday.
In this video, I discuss Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism. While this has not been determined the cause of death in Hodge’s case, many long distance travelers are effected by this. As I say in my videos, the goal is not to bring about fear, but to bring about awareness.
