Saturday night I was in the Bronx at an All Black Affair at Paradise Theater. The music was great and there was a live performance by an upcoming rapper named Fred the Godson. Always ready to get glam, I polished my nails with a combo of two brands of nail polish. The base coat was Black Tie (095) by Confetti and a top coat of Starry Silver Glitter (105) by New York Color. I put on a few sparkly bracelets; a pair of sparkly earrings; a square black and silver ring that, beautifully, complimented my black top with silver sequence. It was so on that evening!
Before I left home, I said “I hope I meet someone tonight.” By the end of the night I was kissing the softest lips I kissed in a long time. The guy is dreamy. We exchanged numbers and had a late night – or should I say early morning conversation. In that moment, I felt like a teenager again. Those are the moments I cling to.
I’m too focused right now for dating. Even after 30 years, Cyndi Lauper’s song “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” plays in my head. I learn from the rules I constantly break. Can’t a girl just have fun?
