MISS FAVELA

Williamsburg never fails.  Dance to the sounds of Afro-Caribbean beats or simply enjoy a plate of authentic Brazilian cuisine.  Miss Favela is located in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.  It is a hip and happening joint. I went on a Friday night where a live band played a cultural blend of Portuguese and  smooth reggae tunes.  You can’t go wrong with the Prato “Miss Favela”, which is a seafood feast that included fried white fish, calamari, cod fish fritters, and shrimp. Enjoy a plate of yucca fries while listening to the sweet sounds of the house band covering some of Bob Marley’s greatest hits.

Being the life of the party, I graciously accepted the house band labeling me the “Reggae Queen.”  As I swayed my hips and danced rhythmically to the Carib beats, young hipsters danced vicariously.  It’s the type of place where you dance like no one’s watching.  The venue was crowded, which proves that Miss Favela is the place to be on a Friday night in New York City.  I only wish I had received the memo sooner about this lively place.  I truly enjoyed my time at Miss Favela.  I strongly recommend you visit – if not for the food and drinks, but for the music and atmosphere.
