It was probably one of the hottest days in NYC this summer! On a simple date, we made our way downtown to Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken at their East Village location.
Omar knows how much I love waterfront views so we took our food to a waterfront park along the East River. We parked our car in a construction like area and walked in the scorching hot sun to John V. Lindsay East River Park. I honestly appreciate the way NYC has invested in their waterfronts. We have so many beautiful parks and walkways with exceptional views!

When we got to the park bench, I was already over it. Walking that far in the heat felt like torture. To add insult to injury, when we started unpacking our food, we noticed the restaurant didn’t give us eating utensils AND they forgot our biscuits. I was annoyed! How was I suppose to eat my mashed potatoes without a spoon or fork?

We, ultimately, made the best of the moment. Overall, spending time with the person you love is priceless and overrides any negative experience. As far as Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken, I wasn’t overly impressed. The chicken was good. It had a nice crunch factor. Can’t say their fried chicken is exceptional. The Lemonade was tart and nicely sweet. The mashed potatoes were ok. I really enjoyed the gravy. And I am a lover of shoestring fries so I was very much pleased with that.
