La Marina is definitely a New York City treasure. In the Inwood section of Manhattan on Dyckman Street, La Marina is a waterfront property that boasts the most amazing scenic views of the Hudson River. Depending on the day and time, It’s perfect for couples, families, and singles. If you’re looking for a hot guy or gal in the City, this is where to find them. The food is good. I munched on yucca fries, which is cassava cooked and deep-fried. It is crunchy on the outside, but has a soft texture on the inside. I tried their hamburger made from a combination of brisket, chuck, and short ribs. I also had their chicken lollipops which is a fun play on buffalo wings.
We sat near the water and soaked up the beaming sun as jet skiers rode the waves of the Hudson River. The ambiance is reminiscent of South Beach, Miami. I enjoyed a La Samantha cocktail, which is a combination of mango purée, Grey Goose La Poire, and prosecco. The La Samantha is the perfect summer cocktail. For dessert we enjoyed Apple Tart à la Mode. It’s caramelized apples on a bed of flaky puff pastry, topped with smooth vanilla ice cream. It is extraordinary. The fresh berries on the plate included strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. The combination of the tartness of the berries, the sweetness of the apples, the creaminess of the ice cream and the crunch of the puff pastry created the most magnificent experience in my mouth. It was so damn good! Maybe better than sex – just maybe.
La Marina hosts after work parties and weekend events for 21& over. With DJs like Hot97’s Camillo you get the Urban Latin vibe – reggaeton, rap, hip hop, salsa, merengue, bachata, r&b, and all the good music that makes uptown Manhattan a NYC hotbed of diversity. A pretty diverse crowd with lots of good music, lots of good food, lots of good drinks which all sums up to lots of good fun! It is a beautiful place that is definitely my pick as a summer-time hot spot in New York City.
