Many of us are so fixated on where we have been that we neglect to focus forward on where we are headed. I always think about Lot’s wife who was specifically advised not to look back. When she didn’t follow orders, she turned into a pillar of salt. If we would learn to press forward without looking back, we could be in a far more superior place.
Whether it be pleasurable or painful, I think memories of our past can be used as a reference in our present and future experiences. It should not; however, be our only compass through life. If the fire burned you once, you should not fear the fire, but acknowledge the cause to which you were burned. If you experience a great passion with someone who ultimately caused you even greater pain, you should not become an addict to the passion which similar to drug abuse, can bring temporary satisfaction while causing permanent damage. Look forward and find direction.
I ask God regularly to direct me. How many of us use a GPS or a map and still get lost? We have plans for our future, but we come across these obstacles in our journey that completely divert us from our destination. When you think about where you are and where you thought you’d be, do you ask yourself “how the f*ck did I get here?” That is truly a question about the directions you chose to follow.
From herein, where you are and how you got there no longer matters. Focus on where you want to go. What’s done is done. Follow the signs, and the path that’s been laid down for you to follow to get you to exactly where you need to be. It’s not too late to figure out where you’re going. It’s not too late to go where you always wanted to be xoxo
