50 Holiday Foods to Avoid

We survived Thanksgiving, now we have to get through the rest of the holiday season.  With Christmas and New Year just weeks away,  we will be tempted with an assortment of high calorie holiday fare. Health.com shares a list of 50 Holiday Foods You Shouldn’t Eat.  What I love about this list is that they provide healthier recipe options. If you are hosting a holiday dinner at your home, consider substituting  traditional recipes for a healthier one on their list.

Instead of cooking sausage stuffing, try making a Corn Bread Stuffing With CranberriesIf you love Potato Pancakes, try this version of Potato Cakes instead.  They even have a recipe for a classic soul food favorite, Candied Yams.  Try their Sweet Potato Casserole With MarshmallowsAccording to Julianna Grimes Bottcher of health.com, reviewers rave about this sweet potato casserole recipe.

Even if you don’t switch all your recipes, at least substitute one.  It’s a good start to a healthy holiday.  To see Health.com’s full list, click here.
